The Pillars of the Earth is a 2010 TV miniseries airing on Starz from 23 July 2010. The TV series is adapted from the novel with the same name written by Ken Follett.

The story revolves around the building of a cathedral in Kingsbridge. Tom Builder is a poor mason, who, in pursuit of his dream, turned down several paying work to look for somebody who would hire him to build a cathedral.
In his quest, Tom brought along his family and they traveled through the woods. With a third child on the way, Tom and his wife Alice, together with their two children, Martha and Alfred, are struggling to survive in the forest. Alice will die at child birth and Tom knows he will be unable to raise this child and the boy will end up dead anyway with the challenging conditions in the forest. So he left him in the forest.
But later, laden with guilt, Tom will come back for the child but he won’t find him there anymore. The boy will be taken by a monk named Philip in a nearby monastery and will be named Jonathan.
Later on, Tom Builder will meet and fell in love with Ellen and they will settle in Kingsbridge where they will find out that Prior Philip wanted to build a cathedral. From now on the plot thickens. Watch The Pillars of the Earth for follow up the story.
